North Powder City Library

The North Powder City Library had humble beginnings on March 28, 1930. It was originally a cooperative project between the City, the school, and members of the community. The City allowed the Parent Teacher’s Association to renovate, furnish, and use the rooms above City Hall (the original fire station built in 1920) for the library. The grand opening was commemorated with a silver tea service and the new shelves proudly held more than 100 books. Since then, the library has remained a valued part of the North Powder community.

In 2026, the library was moved to a brand new facility which was made possible through grants, the hard work of dedicated volunteers and City leaders (past and present), and support of the local community.

Currently the Library provides, books, audiobooks, videos, public computers, free Wi-Fi, a children’s learning station, and access to the Sage Library System, expanding the resources available to patrons. The facility is fully ADA accessible and provides a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for visitors of all ages.

The Library is owned and operated by the City of North Powder, assisted by a five-member advisory Board.

Mission
The mission of the North Powder City Library is to foster a love of learning, creativity, and community connection by providing free and equitable access to knowledge, technology, and resources that empower people of all ages to explore, grow, and thrive in an ever-changing world.
